Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation’s Early Learning Equal Start, including full-day pre-k, was fully implemented in 14 community schools in the 2021-22 school year. The results to date have been overwhelmingly positive.
SPSF’s Early Learning Equal Start (ELES) campaign funds multiple crucial initiatives that are changing children’s lives. ELES funds Page Turners (Early Learning Literacy Tutors), Camp Brain Power, Full-Day Every Day Kindergarten, and Full-day pre-kindergarten.
The full-day pre-k program has been implemented in 14 community schools within Saskatoon Public Schools in the 2021-22 school year. Full-day pre-kindergarten is one of the four key ELES initiatives. Undeniably, all four initiatives are working towards helping all students achieve grade 3 literacy level in grade 3. Additionally, Grade 3 literacy levels are an indicator of whether a student will graduate on time. An indicator that a student may not graduate on time, is their grade 3 literacy level. More students are now achieving this milestone, because of full-day pre-k and the other ELES initiatives. When students achieve this milestone alongside their peers, they will be given skills needed not only to graduate on time, but to experience a rich and literacy-filled life.
