Programs - Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation

A positive academic experience doesn’t just happen in the classroom.

A community is at its best when it invests in itself. We work with organizations and individuals raising funds to benefit our children and elevate our community.

Grade three students in the program achieved ¾ of a year’s growth

Early Learner Tutor Program

Since 2013, SPSF has paired struggling readers in Grade 1 to 3 with experienced tutors to help them progress toward grade level reading, with improved confidence and skills.

“A child who can’t read at grade level by 3rd grade is four times less likely to graduate than a child who does read proficiently by that time. Add poverty to the mix, and a student is 13 times less likely to graduate on time than his or her proficient, wealthier peer.”

Summer Reading Camp

Promoting children’s literacy and preventing learning loss over the summer months is important! This two week program for children in grades one to three provides additional support to help them reach grade-level reading. Each summer more than 200 children benefit from this program.

“91% of summer reading camp students started the school year with a reading advantage gained at the camps.”

837,663 breakfasts, lunches and snacks were served to Saskatoon Public Schools students in the 2018-19 school year.
