75% of students reach grade level after 7 weeks
Early Learner Tutor Program
Since 2013, SPSF has paired struggling readers in Grade 1 to 3 with experienced tutors to help them progress toward grade level reading, with improved confidence and skills.
“A child who can’t read at grade level by 3rd grade is four times less likely to graduate than a child who does read proficiently by that time. Add poverty to the mix, and a student is 13 times less likely to graduate on time than his or her proficient, wealthier peer.”– American Educational Research Association
Summer Reading Camp
Promoting children’s literacy and preventing learning loss over the summer months is important! This two week program for children in grades one to three provides additional support to help them reach grade-level reading. Each summer more than 300 children benefit from this program.
“91% of summer reading camp students started the school year with a reading advantage gained at the camps.”

Healthy Active Schools
Nutrien Food4Thought & SaskMilk program
Our school-based nutrition program helps ensure students are well-nourished, ready to learn and poised for academic success. In partnership with Nutrien and SaskMilk, we are able to provide funding for schools to purchase nutritious food and offset the costs for school nutrition workers.
Over 2,200 families have received Cheer Crates so far this year!
Healthy Active Schools
With the closure of schools due to COVID-19, many of our students and families lost access to support, materials and supplies they count on throughout the school year. Our Cheer Crates were developed to provide essential support to families in need as well as cheer and excitement for children missing the day to day activities at school.
The Cheer Crate initiative continues to support families during school breaks.
